Daniel Chimurure (b. 1990) in Harare, Zimbabwe. He lives and works in Harare. His interests in art began some years ago when he was in primary school. After studied a short computer course he moved to Harare polytechnic to study Applied Art and Design in the year 2011. He was mentored by Tapfuma Gutsa from 2012 to 2016.
Daniel works on collage paintings on canvas using discarded papers and incorporate printmaking techniques and skills. Computers have influenced his working process as it has been his gadget of interest since primary school. He did workshops with various artists including of printmaking with Ndashunye Shikongeni from Namibia. In 2019, he was a resident artist at Mbare Art Space, in Harare. He exhibits regularly at various galleries in Zimbabwe. He received a third prize award in painting category at the inaugural Zimbabwe Visual Art Awards (ZVAA) at National Gallery of Zimbabwe in 2022. In 2023 his work was exhibited under a special project titled “Off The Grid: A Return to Abstraction” at Turbine Art Fair (TAF23) which was curated by Ashraf Jamal in Johannesburg, South Africa. Some of his paintings were collected by the Arak Collection, which is based in Doha, Qatar. In 2024 Daniel participated in African Charity Fundraising Painting Competition which was held at Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai, China.
