STATEMENT

I utilize art as a catalyst to unlock and transform ordinary life in order to see new things. I believe that these advancements necessitate a collective perspective in order to connect with one another and create an informed future. My work focuses on tapping into a communal psyche, from which my art is impacted. I feel that artists are important in society because they force us to ponder and think, and they play a crucial role in voicing important issues. As a result, it is critical that they collaborate positively to overcome obstacles. My main sources of inspiration are everyday experiences in various places and conversations with others and exploring in the relationship between human beings, how behaviour and attitude is shaped by education, environment, circumstances, and experience at different levels of life.

I use paper as a major material in my work. Distorting it is a way of questioning the human behaviour and attitude. I build up layers of paper one after another and deconstruct; then wet the layers with water and brush them off to review underneath layers which I call memories so as to form unexpected new memories. The last layer is a cut-out which I first manipulate on the computer, scale it to the desired proportion before stick it on canvas.  I want the viewers to look attentively at my work not only to see my story but to discover their hidden memories both old and new within unusual places.
